Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT'S NEW THIS YEAR?

• For your safety, and in response to your feedback, we have decreased capacity in the Social Hall.

• Only vaccinated individuals will be permitted in the building.

• To better accommodate families with young children and unvaccinated members, select services will be held in a new outdoor tent.

• Everyone must be masked, both inside the temple and in the tent, regardless of vaccination status.

• For vaccinated members wishing to pray in a sacred space with our community, and yet with more physical distancing, all services in the Social Hall will be simultaneously livestreamed to the Sanctuary. All services will also be simultaneously livestreamed to the tent for unvaccinated members and those who prefer to be outdoors.

• In the event that the Social Hall reaches its maximum capacity, the Community Court, and the outdoor tent will also serve as overflow seating.

• Because entrance into the building is limited to vaccinated individuals only, Am Shalom will not provide childcare this year.

HOW WILL TICKETING WORK?

• Everyone must fill out a Ticket Request Form to receive High Holy Days tickets.

• You must indicate ALL services you plan to attend, and specify how many will be attending each service. Each member of your family will need a ticket for each service you select.

• For your safety, seating is limited this year; therefore, tickets are first come, first served.

• The Ticket Request Form will be live until Friday, September 3 at noon. If you need to request tickets after that time, please call the office on Monday, September 6 or come to the Will Call tent on Rosh HaShanah.

• You must log into your ShulCloud account to complete the Ticket Request Form. If you need assistance accessing your ShulCloud account, please contact Matthew Altman at 847-835-4800 x 216. If you are unable to complete the online form, please call our office at 847-835-4800 and one of our staff members will help to complete your order. There are no paper request forms this year.

• All ticket requests must be received by Monday, August 16.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR TICKETS?

• Members and their children, ages 25 and under, are entitled to request tickets as part of their membership. Single members are entitled to request two tickets for each service.

• Please indicate on the Ticket Request Form which services you plan to attend, and how many family members will be there. Every individual will need a ticket to enter the temple and the tent.

• Tickets will be provided to all members in good standing. This means that you have returned your membership commitment form, as well as fulfilled, or arranged to fulfill, financial obligations to the congregation by August 16.

• If you would like to set up a payment plan, please contact Zoe Sherman at 847-835-4800 x 204 or zoes@amshalom.com.

ARE EXTRA TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE?

• Due to the extraordinary circumstances of this year, fewer seats than typical are available for our members to purchase. We will closely monitor capacity for each service. Currently, tickets are available for purchase for Erev Rosh HaShanah, Tots in the Tent, Rosh HaShanah Congregational Service, Kol Nidre, Yom Kippur Congregational Service and the Afternoon, Healing, Yizkor & N'ilah Service.

• There is no charge for tickets for the Tots, Step Up or Yizkor Services.

• We will try to accept reciprocity requests for extended family members from out of town, if space allows.

• Many congregations are not accepting reciprocity requests this year. If you will be worshiping out of town, we will be happy to arrange reciprocal passes on your behalf at participating congregations. Please contact Leslie Nathan at 847.835.4800 x 203 or leslien@amshalom.com to make those arrangements.

HOW WILL THIS WORK IF I/WE WANT TO WORSHIP REMOTELY?

• Livestream worshipers need to complete the High Holy Days Ticket Request Form to indicate your preference to livestream only.

• Prayer books may be borrowed for those exclusively livestreaming services (limit 2 sets per family).

• Digital prayer books will be available on our website.

• Am Shalom’s 5782 High Holy Days Box has been designed to enrich your worship experience at home. We will personally deliver one box to each congregant’s home. Boxes may also be picked up on August 30th and 31st.

WHAT DO I NEED TO KNOW ABOUT PRAYERBOOKS?

• Am Shalom provides the High Holy Days prayer book, Mishkan HaNafesh, as well as other special service booklets, at all services.

• Large print prayer books will be available as you enter the building. Please indicate on the ticket request form your need for a large print prayer book.

HOW ARE SPECIAL NEEDS ACCOMODATED?

• Assisted hearing devices will be available as you enter the building.

• Special Needs Seating must be requested in advance for a maximum of five (5) chairs for any service.

• Special Needs Parking will be available in designated Am Shalom parking areas. The religious school North Lot will be reserved only for Special Needs Parking and will be overseen by attendants. State issued parking permits will be honored in our Special Needs Parking areas.

• Please indicate on the Ticket Request Form your need for any/all of the above accommodations.
